While it usually avoids objects, Neato may occasionally make contact with walls or objects. The robot has a line of sight and cannot detect objects below its “eye level” — the level of the laser turret. The amount of light in the room, and the color, texture or height of an object can affect the robot since its navigation laser reflects differently off of various surfaces.
For example, shiny objects and mirrors can affect the performance of the robot’s laser navigation system because they scatter the laser light which can cause Neato to become disoriented and not “see” these reflective objects.
On supported robots, you can enable Extra Care Gentle Navigation. Additional information on Extra Care is available here. Extra Care Gentle Navigation
